The temperature in Guanacaste is hot year-round. Guanacaste has a dry season from November to early May and a moderate rainy season from mid-May to October.

The sun is guaranteed for 6 months of the year, making this a most desirable beach destination. Sunny mornings and afternoons with incredible sunsets are certain throughout the dry season.

During the wet season aka “green season”, it does not rain constantly as in other tropical areas. Rain falls for short periods of time with sunny hours in between. It’s normal during the rainy season to have sunny clear mornings and some sporadic rains during the afternoon and evening. The exception is October when the rains last at least 3 or 4 hours a day.

Life in Costa Rica tends to slow down a bit during the green season, making it an ideal time to come to recover, rest and heal. There are fewer tourists and therefore it is more calm and peaceful during this time. The rainfall produces vibrant life in the gorgeous green forest and tropical plants for you to admire during your vacation.

Clothes to Pack

Since the climate is agreeable and warm throughout the year, it is recommended to bring clothes for warm weather that are light and comfortable. Loose daytime lounging clothes, shorts, slacks, t-shirts, button shirts and light pullovers are all fine. If you are coming during the green season it is recommended to bring a light jacket or poncho, walking shoes and an umbrella.
